Dr. Scot Thompson grew up in Skipperville, Alabama, 35 miles outside of Dothan on a family peanut farm. He graduated from George W. Long High School in 1991, after two state baseball championships and numerous state track records.
Even as a young man, he questioned whether medication was the answer to every health problem, and he was drawn to helping people heal without drugs or surgery. His best friend was attending Life University in Atlanta to become a chiropractor, and he went up to visit. Upon doing so, he learned that what most people believe about staying healthy is often false. Good health begins on the inside, with how well the body functions. How we steward our bodies determines how healthy we can be.
After attending Wallace College in Dothan, Dr. Thompson transferred to Life University in 1993 and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1998. He opened his first chiropractic office in Ozark, AL in 2000. After seven years there, he and his beautiful wife Amy, and sons Jacob, Jonah, and Joshua, moved to Chattanooga, TN. When Dr. Scot’s father was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, the family moved back to Dothan. He is grateful to be home and loves serving his patients.
Eighteen years of practice in Dothan later — with 26 years of adjusting experience and training that began in 1998, and more than a million adjustments behind him — Dr. Thompson serves patients from all over the Wiregrass, south Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle at Thompson Chiropractic & Wellness. Here, care goes beyond the adjustment. Alongside subluxation correction, he works as a functional medicine practitioner — using advanced lab testing to find the root cause behind fatigue, hormone imbalance, gut problems, thyroid conditions, autoimmune issues, and chronic inflammation. Instead of chasing symptoms one at a time, he builds targeted, individualized protocols that address why the body stopped functioning the way it was designed to.
That work led him to found Thompson Essentials, a professional-grade supplement line developed to support the protocols he builds for his patients. Every Thompson Essentials product is third-party tested, so what’s on the label is what’s in the bottle. Dr. Thompson has dedicated his career to treating and educating his patients — teaching them about nutrition and supplementation, and sowing seeds of health that keep producing long after they leave the office. He also teaches regularly through community wellness workshops on subjects like environmental toxins, gut health, and metabolic health, because an educated patient gets better results.
In all those years and all those adjustments, the biggest mistake Dr. Thompson sees people make is waiting too long to seek chiropractic care. Maybe you’ve been told nothing can be done — “live with it, here, take this pill,” for the rest of your life. Please don’t accept that.
Outside the office, Dr. Thompson loves coaching people to better health, hunting, fishing, and exercise. Home is the family land that six generations of Thompsons have worked before him — a place that brings him daily joy and gratitude. He shares it with his Dobermans, Semme, Jax, and Arabella, and his horses, Jeffrey, Casey, and Rooster. Dr. Scot and Amy are empty nesters now, and they love making the drive to three different towns to visit their boys as they pursue their education and careers.
So when you see Dr. Scot, he comes with nearly 30 years of chiropractic background — and he’s ready to put every bit of it to work for you.
